WHITE MOUNTAINS

New reports:

Report from Jim Goughnour of Rim Country Custom Rods: “The summer stocking of Rim Country lakes and streams is underway with great reports being received from trout anglers. A friend and I had the opportunity to fish Sunrise Lake recently and two of us caught limits of 2-pound rainbow trout in a little more than four hours of fishing. Many baits have been reported successful for Rim Country trout fishing. Small crankbaits in a crawdad colors, Z-Rays in a chrome color and silver color, size 0 spinner-baits were reported successful. PowerBait will always catch trout in any Rim Country stream or lake. It’s still chilly on the Rim in the mornings especially if the wind is blowing, so wear layers of clothing if you're heading to the 7,000 ft. elevations.”

Recommended Waters to Fish
Nelson Reservoir will be excellent when it is stocked heavily this week. Woods Canyon Lake is good for stocked trout in the Rim Lakes area.  Fool Hollow Lake and Show Low Lake is good for recently stocked supercatchable size (12-13-inch) rainbow trout, and Woodland Lake is fair to good for recently stocked rainbows.  Big Lake is good for holdover rainbow, cutthroat, and brook trout.  Lee Valley Lake was stocked with catchable size Apache trout several weeks ago. All three Greer Lakes (River, Tunnel, Bunch) have been stocked recently, and Tunnel will be stocked again this week. Trout stocking is now occurring every week at East Fork of Black River, LCR in Greer, Sheeps Crossing, and Silver Creek.
